00 FALLDREN - SECOND DESTINY EP

Project Overview:

Second Destiny is a collection of recent works from electronic music artist Falldren. The project began with an intuitive mutual understanding of intended style and narrative, and the challenge from there was bringing the two together to add to the experience of the artist’s music. This would ultimately connect the music with the intended audience, and evoke specific mental imagery when the audience hears each song.

Challenges:

• Consistent branding across three separate cover designs for the same project

• Manifesting the musician’s personal vision and music into something visual

• Staying mindful of the musician’s existing brand and how this would impact it

Design Process:

The process involved a deep dive into Blender to design, model and texture a pair of nostalgic sci-fi racing ships to act as the the characters that carry the EP's narrative forward. These characters were then encapsulated in various other GUI inspired design elements and type to complete the overall look. The initial direction was inspired by 90s-00s futuristic racing games including entries from both the Wipeout and F-Zero series of games.

Result:

Falldren was pleased with how everything came together and communicated that the project accurately visualizes the album’s story. Upon release, the EP was met with praise and recognition from figureheads in the genre’s community and has since accrued several thousand plays across multiple streaming platforms, marking it as a successful release within the context of the artist’s scene.
