Project Overview:

DATA RAIN is the four track debut EP from electronic music artist ANGELmp3. The design supports the release's overall dark sound, but references the colorful, melodic elements the style of music is known for.

Challenges:

• Finding a unique approach to a popular aesthetic style

• Manifesting the musician’s personal vision and music into something visual

• Attenton to the musician’s brand and how this would shape it as their debut release

Design Process:

A combination of computer-generated fractal textures and GUI inspired ornamental elements ultimately brought the vision to life. The base idea of using fractal art links into the ANGELmp3 project’s digital aesthetic and visual identity as an anonymous, web-born entity. This leans into the synthetic, futuristic sound design and composition of each track within the release.

Result:

As the artist’s first EP, this cover in essence set the tone for their visual identity across all platforms. This has helped the artist feel as though they stand out in a unique way apart from the rest of the community, and that it provides a solid framework and direction for future releases.
